AI4Health.Cro at HIMSS24 Europe in Rome

3 June 2024 – Mario Ravić, a seasoned leader in digital health and the Head of IoT & Digital Health at Ericsson Nikola Tesla (ENT), recently represented the AI4HealthCro project at the prestigious #HIMSS24EUROPE conference in Rome, Italy. Organized by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), this event gathered global health professionals to discuss the future of healthcare technology.

Ericsson Nikola Tesla (ENT) has developed and maintains the National Information System on Health Infrastructure and a leading provider of hospital information systems. Mario Ravić’s expertise spans over nine years in leading commercial and research digital health projects globally. In the realm of Internet of Things (IoT), he has directed the development of IoT data management platforms and spearheaded the R&D for IoT projects across various industries. His contributions include leading the product development and market introduction of the Ericsson Mobile Health (MDD 2A), a medical product used for remote patient monitoring worldwide.

At the conference, Ravić showcased the  achievements of the AI4HealthCro project, especially emphasizing the outcomes of the AI4HealthCro Innovation Challenge. He highlighted that scaling AI in healthcare nationally involves comprehensive strategies encompassing regulatory adjustments, technology operations enhancement, effective data management, and trust-building.

The AI4HealthCro project has seen significant traction over the past year:

  • Contractual Success: The project has signed 75 contracts with SMEs, mid-caps, and public sector entities, successfully executing 49, and fully delivering services to 14 SMEs.
  • Innovation Challenge Insights: The project’s challenge involved developing a predictive model to assess the risk of early hospital readmissions. This initiative attracted 99 applications and led to the formation of 27 competitive teams that contributed to advancing predictive healthcare technologies.

The conference drew an international crowd of 30,000 health professionals, ranging from CIOs and executives to healthcare providers and IT experts. This diverse assembly engaged in rich discussions about health equity, AI, digital health, and more, setting the stage for next year’s HIMSS25, which promises to be a pinnacle of health IT education.
